How do I get started?
To start, sketch a map of your home and outdoor property to determine which areas would benefit most from Choice Alert protection. Think about doors or windows that need contact sensors, and areas best served by a Motion, Garage, or Water Leak Sensors. The Choice Alert system can manage up to 16 sensors; a maximum of four sensors in each of the four zones.
A good place to begin is by installing Window/Door Sensors on your primary and secondary entrances into the home. Motion Sensors can be positioned in the heavy traffic areas, like stairs or hallways, or in main rooms, like living rooms, dens, and computer rooms. Additional sensors can be added for exterior areas like garage doors, outside gates, storage sheds, and workshops. The Water Leak Sensor provides an alert for potential water damage areas around water heaters, washing machines, dishwashers, and air conditioner condensation pans. In addition, a Signal Repeater can be used to extend the reach of the system by 150 feet and the Silent Alert and Alarm Siren provide additional system feedback around the home.
The next step is to decide how to organize your zones. The Choice Alert system features four unique zones, the first three zones allow you to select from three modes—chime, alert, alarm—and the fourth zone provides alert-only notification. Once you decide the organization of the system, it takes a simple four-step process to add the sensors and accessories to the Control Center, in addition to manually mounting sensors at each site. |
